The Aswang is very prevalent in the Philippine folklore, but its class and form are almost indefinite. Because of the country's archipelagic nature, there are multiple interpretations of the creature across the country, from shapeshifter, viscera suckers, witches, equivalent to werewolf or vampire in the Western world or all of it in one. But most people agree many things about it : it prefer to feast on human flesh, prey upon children and pregnant women, sick people, and that it's evil.

I started writing something about Philippine folklore and mythology last year but unfortunately stopped on it for a while. One of its early visualizations is this painting.
